Oh my.

I'm tired.

So very goddamn tired.

As I mentioned a few days ago, I'm at the point in my marathon preparation where I have to do some strength training. So, this week, I started my Monday/Wednesday/Friday "boot camp" program that goes from 6:00 am to 7:00 am. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I also now get up early to go running since those are bad days to run at lunch at the office.

So, uh, I'm getting up at 5:30am every goddamn day.

You know what? I hate 5:30am. I hate exercising. I hate August. I make stupid choices.

Day 1 of boot camp on Monday was a butt-kicker. I got there by 6:00 am and we immediately launched into various exercises. At one point, when I was feeling particularly tired, I checked my watch. It was 6:06 am. Ugh. The rest of the session didn't go by any faster.

Wednesday's class went a lot better because we did a lot of jogging. Jogging is great because I can do it for about 2 hours if necessary and it really burns up the minutes on the clock. It did put things into perspective for me though. When running is the part of a class that I hate the least, then I know it's a horrible class.

Stupid choices.

The first step is admitting it...

Waking up before 6 gives me a headache. Why would anyone want to do that on purpose?!

Sleep is so, so good.

I have burning questions for you. (Fortunately... that is the only burning thing I have.) I don't know how to better ask you in this short comment section then have you read one of my posts.

I am just so very, very confused and need clarification in this seemingly troubled and turbulant world that we share. Thanks heaps!

Avery, sleep is VERY good. To be perfectly honest though, being this exhausted at least gives me a shot at successfully sleeping UNTIL 5:30 each morning.

Sue, oh don't be. It just encourages me.

Sterling, I did my best.

How do you get yourself geared up to Be a Runner? When did you start? What was your first goal? So you listen to an iPod? What music is good for running? Or do you like the sound of your feet on the pavement? Any advice for a newbie who may or may not consider running in the future?

Meg, I've started running a few times in my life, but the last time was over a decade ago and I don't quite remember how it all began. I assume I just gradually increased my mileage from zero on up, but I don't recall how.

Regardless, everyone's experience is different. Some folks must run with music, others prefer podcasts and some folks just like to listen to their bodies.

I know a lot of people who had great success using the Galloway method of running (interspersing running with walking breaks), but I have no experience with it.

Good luck though!
