Daisy graduated from first grade yesterday. Although we've enrolled her in day camp to keep her busy this summer, it doesn't start until next week. So for today, her first day of summer vacation, we're using the expert babysitting skills of Uncle TV. He tells good stories. Plus, the loving radiation he emits keeps her internal organs warm.

(Actually, after I wrote that paragraph, my wife got home early and took her to the beach! I guess she'll have to warm her organs the old fashioned way: UV radiation)

On an unrelated and final Friday note, allow me to brag that I was the winner of a recent contest in janelle renée's charming blog (although I did have the home field advantage this time). My prize was that she has now featured me as the main character in her latest 55. 55s are a form of short story that must contain exactly 55 words. It's an exercise in brevity and wit. Go read my prize!

Ooo that location (in the contest) was one of the bootcamp launch points from last year. One of the unsung viewpoints in the City.

jr has good view mojo

I have good parking mojo, too!

Yay for Mike, home field advantages, and UV radiation.

Pablo, not even pretty views make bootcamp worthwhile.

jr, yay for me!

Oh, congratulations on her first academic milestone. I know she made an adorable graduate. Ahhh day camp, love the day camps. I wasn't a TV mom, or a candy mom, but I am a definite lover of the Nick channel now that I am 51 and with a less than two year old grandson in my care. Gotta love Blue and Dora and Maggie, and Lil Bear and all the others. It's sad, but I sing the songs not just to him but while I am working as well. A little uvs don't hurt, hell, I was in direct line of both UVs and DDT and look how well I turned how.

Dora always drove me crazy. Kids have this amazing capacity to learn languages and the whole purpose of that show is to teach Spanish, but they only teach one word per episode. AND it was hair-ripping-outingly (if that's a word) boring.

You know, I like Dora, like that she is friends with a monkey. I don't, however, like Steve or Joe. I mean, they dance, they sing, they scado and they are grown men playing with cartoon dogs and salt and pepper shakers and slippery soap and side table and they are just too weird.

Zelda1, I just enjoy imagining Joe and Steve when they walk off the set. I figure they've got a cigarette in their mouth, a bottle of Wild Turkey in one hand, and they're groping at the interns with the other hand. That image pleases me.
